There is no use in investing hundreds, even, thousands of dollars on a brand new website if it is going to result in zero sales. As much as we would like to think that building a website automatically guarantees us leads to our next customer, there is a lot more work that goes into obtaining traffic onto your page than you would think. But how can we make your website stand out from all the millions of others on the internet?
The answer is simple: Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
SEO is how you help potential clients or customers find your site when they are on search engines such as Google and Bing. By building your website the correct way and optimizing keywords, you’ll not only drive traffic to your website but you might even generate more sales.
1. Find the right keywords
Think about the words your ideal customers are searching for on Google or Bing when they are searching for your products or services. Create a list of keywords and head on over to Google Adwords and validate how often these keywords are being used in the search results.
Now use those keywords and insert them into your URL, Titles, Metadata descriptions, and paragraphs. This will help Google rank your website higher and connect users to what they are looking for.
2. Post lots of high-quality content
People use Google search to find relevant solutions to their questions. With our content being relevant to keywords in relation to our business, you should aim to supply users with a wide range of content. From articles to photos and videos, try to take up as much space as possible on the internet with various forms of content related to your business.
3. Create links that take you to your website
It is important to note that the more sites that carry your link, the more likely you are to have people visiting your page and therefore allowing you to rank higher on Google searches. Ask bloggers or owners of similar sites to place your link on their site or related articles.
4. Social Media is your ally
Remember what I said about posting high-quality content? Well, Social media is a great tool to use! SEO stands true in social media as users also use platforms like Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook as search engines. Create a Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn page, and so on and those social media accounts will appear as search ranking when someone searches for your business online.
What works today may not work in a few years from now. Always keep a lookout for your SEO performance. Use resources such as Google Analytics to keep track of SEO metrics and who your target audience is.
And don’t forget to remain patient! SEO takes time. You will not see results overnight. This setup takes months before you are to see any changes. Just trust the process!
